I am a multi-passionate, feminist creative marketer who helps values driven business make money while making the world a better place. As an accomplished brand strategist, web designer and published author, I know a thing or twenty about helping businesses grow their online presence, wealth and impact in the world AND confidently take up space online.

This week I want to talk about consistency.
The kind we’re constantly told is the “key” to building a successful business.
Post regularly. Stay visible. Engage every day. Show up even when you don’t feel like it.
Like batching emails or 30 reels in one day so you can schedule them for the month.
Sound familiar?
It’s a version of consistency built for machines (or big businesses with big budgets)—not individuals who are running the full show.
And deffffffinitely not for neurodivergent folks, parents, caregivers, or anyone living in a body that doesn’t run on full energy all the time.
I used to believe I had to keep up with that kind of consistency. I’d try to “appear” steady even when I was anything but.
And it helped a little because I was able to create content when I did have more energy.
But it also left me asking: What am I actually being consistent with?
Because if I’m being consistent with content but inconsistent with myself—my energy, my values, my actual capacity…then is it really helping?
So here’s how I think about consistency today…it’s not about appearing like I’ve got it all together all the time.
It’s about how honestly I show up when I have the capacity to show up.
For me, that looks like:
And maybe most importantly? Staying consistent with the intention behind my brand.
Not in a forced “always be showing up” way.
But in a thoughtful way that says: “This is what I care about. This is how I want to show up when I can show up.”
Recently, I added a well-being note to my email signature that says:
If you’re reading this outside your own working hours, please don’t feel any pressure to reply right away. I honour my energy by working at times that align with my own flow and I encourage you to do the same! Capitalism loves speed. I love sustainability. Take your time. I’m not in a rush.
I did this because I want to inspire other business owners to create businesses that honour who they really are.
Adding this note to my signature felt like a small but meaningful way to practice what I preach. To remind both myself and the people I work with that we’re allowed to move at a pace that supports our well-being, not just our productivity.
And that’s why when your brand is rooted in who you really are, consistency stops feeling like a chore.
It becomes something that flows more naturally, even if the rhythm isn’t always predictable.
That might look like:
And yeah… some days, you might still feel out of sync. You might worry you’ve dropped the ball.
That’s okay.
You’re not a content machine. You’re a human. And your brand should reflect that.
So if you’ve been feeling “inconsistent”? Maybe you’re not behind. Maybe you’re just building a business that makes space for real life….you know…the stuff that matters most.
You’re finding your rhythm. You’re honouring your life. And you’re building something real—not just something that “performs well.”
That’s the kind of consistency I believe in.
The kind that doesn’t burn you out.
The kind that builds trust. The kind that lasts!
And hey—before you go…
